Pre-Fall

Holding Horses

September 2, 2017 by The Partial Ingredients

Even though there is a September heat wave going on, my eyes have been on fall weather outfits. I love the usual Fall fashion trends so I’m excited for the upcoming months! Layers, scarves, deep reds and olive tones are definitely some things I’m looking forward to. Velvet as a Fall texture is a lovely material to explore this season. I recently came across this Anthropologie ‘Holding Horses’ velvet button down on sale and snapped it up. Isn’t the color just gorgeous? I love the combination of velvet and silk (on the inside layer) and wearing it is a dream. Another fabric I’ve been loving is denim so combining them was pretty much perfect. I’ve been kind of obsessed with these Levi’s high rise 721s. They are so comfy and give this shirt an everyday vibe instead of creating an over-dressed situation. I like the slightly western/country flavor this outfit evokes without being too over the top.

I recently traveled back to Minneapolis, my hometown, to sort through some old clothes and items to keep or donate. I found my old Gap suede backpack and fell in love with it all over again. Don’t you love finding old things in the back of your closet and rediscovering them all over again? It’s like finding $20 in the pocket of your old winter coat. This bag is made out of a nice sturdy suede and has lasted a lifetime. I guess you could say it’s a “buy it for life” bag! It works nicely as a small hiking bag or as an everyday small back pack. It’s nice to bring old things back into circulation!

Feeling Autumnal: Rusty Orange Top & Tea Skirt

September 13, 2016 by The Partial Ingredients

Rust Orange & Tea Skirt

It’s starting to feel more and more like Fall and I’m getting more in the mood to wear autumnal things like this rusty orange top from H&M. I love the color and it is perfect for Autumn! While the cardigan might look black it’s really more of a deep charcoal color which looks so lovely with the orange and makes it pop even more. I paired these with a peachy beige tea skirt with pretty embroidery on the edges. To complete the outfit I wore these excellent brown leather zip up booties by Lucky brand. They are super comfy and look great with just about everything.

Moth Print & Ripped Jeans

August 28, 2016 by The Partial Ingredients

Red Moths & Ripped Jeans

How can you not love this shirt? The print is just too cool. It reminds me of old nature illustrations like the science posters in a class room. I love the works of Audubon and botanical illustrations so this is totally my thing. I’m not usually a distressed jeans type of gal but I really liked these AE jeggings. They’re stretchy and just have a lightly distressed look but not over the top like I was attacked by a tiger. And the shoes–I looove these booties. They’re Lucky brand suede desert boots and I can’t get enough. They go with everything and are just too cute. Be warned, I have narrow feet and these are VERY narrow. I usually wear them with a nylon sock because regular socks can be a bit pinchy on the sides.
